Classic vs Contemporary Homeopathy

Posting Date:  Aug 15, 2019

Whether you’re a seasoned Homeopath, or are considering the integration of Homeopathy for the first time in your practice, you will want to understand the differences between Classical and Contemporary Homeopathy. Two major styles of Homeopathy have developed since its inception in the late 1700’s; CLASSICAL HOMEOPATHY and CONTEMPORARY or CLINICAL HOMEOPATHY. The Classical style can be compared to the HIO or straight approach of Chiropractic, and the Contemporary style to the mixer approach of Chiropractic. Emotions and strong belief systems can run high, particularly with Classical Homeopaths, as it does with straight Chiropractors.

Since 1979 we have tried and tested these two approaches and correlated the results. During this time our doctors of various disciplines, and support staff utilized these methods, and correlated them with good diagnostic backup, including good old, hard-core results from, x-rays, computerized blood, urine, and saliva workups, questionnaires, ECG, EEG, EMG, pulmonary function, and thermography. They would then perform basic comparisons of the most efficient and effective ways to help our patients.

I was originally trained in the Classical style of Homeopathy. I’ll be upfront and share with you why I converted to a Contemporary style of Homeopathy over the tests of time. We had many heated debates between the two styles in our practice. These differences lead to a healthy competition - and by comparing results, we created multiple breakthroughs which advanced the science, philosophy and art of Homeopathy.

The Classical procedures included case-taking using computerized, and book references of repertorization by seasoned Classical trained Homeopaths. The Classical method uses a single ingredient remedy in a single potency.

Classical Homeopathy is the original system that was developed over 200 years ago. This style of Homeopathy required a vast amount of time accumulating comprehensive information. It is helpful that the serious Homeopathic practitioner become familiar with this system.

Contemporary Homeopathic methods may include using a testing method of communication with the body, to confirm the remedies of choice. Testing methods may include; electro-acupuncture testing, muscle testing, and leg length procedures with the patient holding the bottle or laying the bottle on the body. Then, by observing changes in leg length, muscle strength or electro-acupuncture readings, you can confirm the Homeopathic remedy, or combination of remedies the patient responds to.

With the advent of the industrial revolution, environmental toxicities, vaccinations, and suppressive drug therapies, the basic evolution of the disease processes has drastically complicated the manifestation of today’s disease patterns. The more complex the causes of disease have become, the more complex the Homeopathic solutions need to become. The comprehensive approaches of the Contemporary Homeopathic concepts have shown greater effectiveness.

Suppression of disease from many of the drugs used over the past 70 years, has sent disease deeper into the body, altering and complicating the expression of disease. In Chiropractic we learn about retracing of old problems through the healing process. In Homeopathy it is called “Hearings Law of Cure”. Hearings Law of Cure was established about 100 years before Chiropractic was established with David Palmar. Hearings Law of Cure states that the suppression of disease sends it deeper into more vital areas of the body. When healing is awakened by Homeopathy, the disease patterns will come out in the order they accrued. Also, healing occurs from “above down” and “inside out”.

Why combinations can work better than single remedies.

In nature, diversity creates stability. Certain plants grow better together than apart. We have found the same to be true therapeutically. Combining certain ingredients herbally, nutritionally, and Homeopathically can create therapeutic synergy. We call this synergy “companion planting” in agriculture. Monocrops can create problems. On the other side of the scale there are certain plants that do not grow better together, or work more therapeutically together. In Homeopathy, some ingredients can antidote another ingredient. Due to some inconsistencies in the Homeopathic literature concerning which individual Homeopathic remedies may antidote another remedy, we began to clinically challenge this aspect of Homeopathic practice.

By meticulously correlating the results of using various Homeopathic remedies together, we have found that approximately 70% of the Homeopathic remedies that have been considered “antidoting” to one another, actually worked very well together in clinical testing. Also, certain individual remedies, when given together, enhance the other’s actions, causing an enhanced synergistic effect. This insight allowed us to discover the most comprehensive and synergistic Homeopathic ingredients that produced the highest percentage of results, faster results, higher percentage of cure, and less healing crises or detox responses.

Classical Homeopathy taught that combinations were okay for simple superficial cases, but not for a deeper cure of more serious conditions. I have found in my 40 plus years of practice that multiple synergistic ingredients and potencies actually work better for all cases, including simple, superficial, acute, chronic, serious and constitutional care.

Multiple ingredients, combined with multiple potencies, have actually produced multiple results. The advantages of multiple potencies have dynamically enhanced the results of Homeopathy. And the addition of the LM potencies have taken Homeopathy to another level. Dr Hahnemann, the founder of Homeopathy, dynamically changed the practice of Homeopathy in the last decade of his life, as confirmed in his final sixth edition of the Organon, the authoritative text in Homeopathy. Hahnemann discovered the LM potencies, and called them the most perfect potencies, as they worked deeper - while at the same time, surprisingly, gentler, as they did not produce healing or detox crises. The LM works deeper into the mental, emotional, and even into correcting the genetic predispositions to disease that we have inherited, as deep as ten generations.

Multiple potencies provide a broader therapeutic spectrum, which produces a much greater percentage of results that are faster, longer lasting, and with a higher percentage of actual cure. The broad spectrum of potencies provides a continuous therapeutic effect, as the potency requirements change during the healing process. The body will utilize the ingredient(s) it needs at the potency(ies) it needs, when it needs it. Having these multiple potencies in one formula provides a much more efficient utilization of the Homeopathic remedy by the body, resulting in a more efficient cure. Think of the multiple potencies as having multiple signals on your phone or laptop. Having access to multiple signals, while traveling through the healing process, will provide uninterrupted healing service to achieve a more thorough cure and correction, or restoration to wholeness.

Homeopathy has traditionally used sugar pellets, tablets or alcohol-based liquids. We have worked successfully with difficult cases, such as so-called incurable, terminal and hypersensitive patients, by integrating Homeopathy. To add to the success of these patients we developed an all-natural, plant-based preservative system in an essentially taste free, pure water base. Adding this advancement to Contemporary Homeopathy satisfies the more discerning patient seeking a pure natural product.

Adding multiple deliveries is another advancement in Contemporary Homeopathy that has multiplied the Homeopathic results. A pure water-based, medically metered pump spray provides the ability to apply multiple deliveries orally, topically and olfactory. Each delivery provides a therapeutic diminution that the other may not. You can spray orally to treat from the inside out. Spray topically to treat locally from the outside in. And you can spray olfactory by simply spraying a mist in front of your face to breath a small amount into your nose that goes into the frontal lobe of your brain, which elicits a response in your limbic system to get the deepest therapeutic effect of Homeopathy.

The bottom-line difference between Classical and Contemporary Homeopathy is results. It’s not about sticking to an original philosophy or method of teaching. It’s really about keeping an open mind, and being willing to test new ideas and methods, and to continue advancing your abilities to best help the most people. The world is in great need of healing. Homeopathy offers many healing avenues that will compliment every healing discipline. Homeopathy provides a vast realm of healing no other discipline can duplicate. Homeopathy is a necessary adjunct to help the whole person and expand our ability to eradicate disease. No matter what method, or combination of methods you choose, please choose to integrate Homeopathy into your practice. Your patients deserve Homeopathy and need Homeopathy to achieve their full potential in health and life.

Multiple ingredients - times multiple potencies - times multiple deliveries - create a compounded multiplication of results with Contemporary Homeopathy.
